Brand new and unavailable anywhere else until October 19th! It's our most anticipated release this year- Jello Biafra teaming up with The Melvins!
What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object? What happens when the most controversial Punk Rock vocalist/activist on earth teams up with the heaviest band of our time? What happens when Jello Biafra and the Melvins put their collective heads together and do an album?
"Never Breathe What you Can't See" is what happens! A musical monster of massive proportions is born, bristling with Jello's manic energy and anchored by the sheer heft of the Melvins' collective heaviness. With both camps flexing their musical prowess, the result is something that retains the signature qualities of both artists and yet sounds refreshingly unlike anything that either has recorded in the past.
If the tag team of Jello Biafra and the Melvins wasn't enough, there's guests from Tool, Phantom Limbs, Fleshies, Frisk, Spitboy, Malnourished, and Gag Order as well!

And as the legendary Jess Franco was here in the theater I decided to stick it out. The main feature began...and boy did it begin. From the people who brought you "Resident Evil 2": CONSTANTIN FILMS. I was astonished. How long has this company been around? Then, to my surprise, I realized the obvious. This was a dubbed German production with French subtitles. Not that you need to understand what's being said. Nothing relates to anything...by design! It's sort of like soft core porn as shot by Bunuel. What is amazing about the film is that it's really masterfully woven together. The things Jess Franco was doing, under the guise of making soft-core, was truly remarkable. The audio in the film especially, and how it was threaded into the music -- which was somehow a cross between classical and jazz tracks. Believe it or not, it was every bit as good as "El" or "Viridiana" or even "Exterminating Angel" (sorry, Alex -- I really believe this). Jess Franco is an auteur, and something of a master -- I can't deny it. Afterward we went to a dinner with Jess, Lina, the Cinematheque crowd, and the biographer/filmmaker dude. I sat there and watched Christophe, who is without question a greater authority on cinema than Quentin Tarantino, spoon the marrow from bones and eat it with rock salt while he discussed the most obscure and long dead Italian composers who, of course, Jess knew personally. There couldn't have been a better person at the table than Christophe. He truly knows the work of Franco (his stack of Franco DVD's is wider than his stack of John Ford), and was able to discuss in intimate detail this man's entire life. At one point he leaned over to me and with a jab of the elboe said that the first porn film he ever saw, at 9, starred the old lady sitting at the other end of the table -- Lina. He then scooped some more marrow into his mouth and laughed. At this point I realized that Fellini could have made an epic film about this night, and the weirdest event hadn't even happened yet.

What was it like working with Zhang Yimou? - He’s one of the most famous directors in China. He made a lot of great films, but a not action films. This is the first action film. Of course, he’s the artist so he asks, he wants something that we never think about that way. Like working with your costar but you can’t see your costar on the set, because he knows shooting the man, the boy in the morning is better because the girl wakes up, put on her face, swallows, it’s not pretty. [If we] wait until sunshine, the light is smoother, the girl is more beautiful. That’s his way, waiting for a few days for one lighting, the lights coming. This is his way. He wanted to dye the hair of 500 horses black. We spent seven days waiting. They changed the color of the horses. So he had a very unique way, angle to see things.

Adapted from renowned writer Liang Yu-Shen timeless classic, SEVEN SWORDS tells the story of seven unlikely heroes gathered together to save a village from the massacre of a general that is seeking a fortune through killing. In the early 1600, the long ruling Ming Dynasty has been overthrown, and the Manchurian invaders from the north have taken over the sovereignty, beginning what is known as the Ching Dynasty, and a highly oppressive reign thus begins. In order to prevent rebels developing revolutionary plots, the newly set-up government immediately imposes a ruthless emergency martial law, ordering all martial art practitioners to turn in their weapons to district officials. Those who fail to do so will be considered committing a serious crime and would result to immediate execution. But soon enough, people would discover that even if they were to obey the law and turn in their weapon, their fate is equally in dire. Wind Fire, a surrendered military official from the previous dynasty, sees this as an opportunity to make a fortune for himself by helping to execute the new law. After endless massacres, Wind Fire next goal is to attack the final frontier, the village of Bowei Fortress.
Fu Qingzhu, a retired executioner from the previous dynasty feels the need to put a stop to this brutality and sets out to save Bowei Fortress. He brings Wu Yuanyin and Han Zhiban from the village with him to Mount Heaven to seek help from Master Shadow-Glow, a hermit who is a master of swords and leads a group of disciples of great swordsmanship. Master Shadow-Glow agrees to help, and orders four of his best disciples to go. Together with Chu Zhaonan, Yang Yunchong, Mulong, and Xin Longzi, SEVEN SWORDS is formed. Fu Qingzhu takes the lead and they set out to save the people of Bowei Fortress. As they take the entire village leading them to the road of a safer place, they begin to encounter mysterious confusion. Food and water is poisoned, and trails of escape are marked with signs leading the enemy to them. They soon realize that there is an undercover spy amongst them, and SEVEN SWORDS must identify him/her before Wind Fire army gets to them

While he admits that for a time he felt that the iconic show was winding down, he now believes it will run and run, perhaps to the end of the decade. And beyond that plans for a Simpsons movie are well under way: "We're trying to tell a story that we wouldn't do on television and take advantage of a longer process and a more ambitious process for animation," says Groening, who looks uncannily like a live version of a character from Springfield, the fictional town where the show is set.
